Is SGS Create Right for My Child?

Choosing the right setting for your child is important. SGS Create works well for some young people, but not all. This page is designed to help you decide whether our approach is the right fit.

SGS Create is a full-time 14–16 education provision within SGS College. We offer a calm, supportive environment for students who have found mainstream settings challenging, alongside clear and consistent expectations that help students feel safe, settled and able to engage.

Who SGS Create is right for

SGS Create may be a good fit for young people who:

  • Have found mainstream school difficult or overwhelming

  • Benefit from smaller groups and a more personalised approach

  • Respond well to supportive, relational environments

  • Are willing to engage with support and guidance

  • Are working towards GCSEs and/or vocational pathways

  • Are ready to attend regularly and be part of a structured day

Who SGS Create may not be right for

SGS Create may not be the right fit if a young person:

  • Is currently unable or unwilling to attend any form of education

  • Finds it difficult to engage safely within a group setting

  • Requires a highly specialist SEND provision beyond what we offer

  • Is not yet ready to follow a structured timetable with support

We will always be honest about whether we feel we can meet a young person’s needs.

What to expect at SGS Create

Students at SGS Create:

  • Attend full-time and follow a structured timetable

  • Study a combination of GCSEs and vocational subjects

  • Are supported by staff who prioritise relationships and wellbeing

  • Are expected to attend, engage, and contribute positively

We aim to strike the right balance between support and structure, helping students build confidence, independence, and readiness for their next steps.

Support and expectations

We understand that many of our students need additional support, and this is at the heart of what we do. At the same time, clear and consistent expectations help create a safe and purposeful environment for everyone.

Where students find things challenging, we work closely with them and their families. In some situations, we may need to adapt support, contact home, or take further action to ensure the safety and wellbeing of all students.
