What is SGS Create? SGS Create is a full-time 14–16 education provision based within SGS College. Students follow a broad and balanced curriculum, including GCSEs and vocational courses, in a structured environment.

How do I apply? We ask that all families attend an open event before applying. This helps ensure that SGS Create is the right fit. Details of how to apply can be found on our website.

What does a typical day look like? Students attend full-time and follow a structured timetable that includes GCSE subjects, vocational learning, tutor time, and breaks within the college day.

What happens if my child struggles to engage? We will always try to support students to re-engage. If a student is unable to engage safely, we may need to remove them from the lesson and contact home to agree next steps.

What support is available? Students are supported by staff who prioritise relationships, wellbeing, and engagement. We work closely with families to help students succeed.

What is your mobile phone policy? Phones are handed in at the start of the day and returned at the end. This supports focus, reduces distractions, and helps maintain a safe environment.

Is SGS Create a school? We provide full-time education for students in Years 10 and 11, but we are based within a further education college rather than a traditional secondary school.

Is SGS Create right for every child? No. We are a good fit for many young people who have found mainstream school challenging, but not all. We will always be honest about whether we feel we can meet a young person’s needs.

What qualifications do students achieve? Students work towards a combination of GCSEs and vocational qualifications, depending on their pathway.

Do you use suspensions? In some cases, where there has been a serious incident or ongoing concerns, a suspension may be necessary.

Are there quiet or calm spaces available? Yes. We provide calm spaces and support where needed to help students regulate and re-engage.

Is this alternative provision or part-time education? No. SGS Create is a full-time provision. Students are expected to attend daily and engage with their timetable.

Do you accept students with EHCPs? Yes, where we are able to meet the needs outlined in the plan. We are not a specialist SEND school and are not able to meet all types of need.

How do you manage behaviour? We take a calm, relational approach and work closely with students to support them. We also have clear and consistent expectations to ensure a safe and purposeful environment for everyone.

What happens if my child refuses to attend? We work closely with families to support attendance. However, regular attendance is expected as part of being enrolled at SGS Create.

Can students leave site during the day? Students are expected to remain on site during the college day unless agreed otherwise.

What happens if a phone is lost? Phones are stored securely when handed in. Items are held in line with our policy and Department for Education guidance.

Can we visit before applying? Yes. We strongly encourage all families to attend an open event to understand our approach and environment before applying.
